Hi All, Shelagh here, I have been assigned Blog scribe for today so here goes:
Last night was one of those amazingly beautiful starry nights that one has to experience to believe and no better place to do that than from the cockpit of Big Bear out on the open ocean. This was followed by another brochure sailing day with breeze out of the northeast at around 15knts, clear blue skies and plenty of sunshine.
She and Franks café did a roaring trade this morning in bacon, egg and tomato butties (that means sandwich for those non-northerners).
Graeme is getting into the swing of life on the high seas and is proving to be a superb Mr. Fix-it, he went on his usual sojourn around the boat early this morning and spotted a job to put on the To do fix list for later on.
Paulina. Graeme and She are co-helming for the Green Team (or Starboard watch) as we all get into the Swedish watch system of 6 hours on during the day and 4 on during the night. Lots of snoozing going on at any given moment as crew catch up on zzzzs.
Francis is enjoying mentoring the newer members of the crew with valuable lessons and tales of his many years of sailing and has allocated himself chief bottlewasher! Thanks Francis!
Liz and Kerry on the Red Team enjoying some time on the helm under the guidance of their watch captain. Liz, now a dab-hand at brewing up after a busy night on watch.
Skipper Jonathan, as always, looking after his crew and making sure we all are happy and having a good time learning all there is to know about Bear. Unfortunately She caught a wave today as skipper was on the bow and he ended up with very soggy shorts!
Entertainment this evening provided by Graeme as he was somewhat reluctantly strapped into the new bosuns chair by Liz and She.
The day closed with a perfect sunset (but no green flash unfortunately) and crew settle in for the night watches.
She
